Scrum Master

HeidelbergCement one of the largest worldwide construction materials companies is looking for a Scrum Master to guide and develop our product teams into true cross-functional and self-organised working. We run our own way of agile “HC Agile” to deliver on the digital targets we are committed to as the HDigital team. We build custom software and are driving customer and business value across our core business lines – aggregates, cement and ready-mix concrete. Our digital-product suites focus on digitizing our global operations (HProduce) and customer interactions (HConnect).

As a Scrum Master you will work in one of our product teams and provide the guidance and leadership they need according to their level of self-organisation. You will facilitate the internal change towards a high-performing team that develops a service- and quality-mindset and manages their daily work in a self-sufficient way. You should consider yourself as a core driver in your team, shield them from poor outside influences and help them to excel in their daily delivery flow.
While being part of our cross-cutting Digital Delivery team, you also contribute to the wider organisation on the way we do agile. This includes standardizing the approaches and principles we apply inside our teams to manage the challenge of growing while running.
  • Drive our approach to agile delivery in your product team
  • Increase the maturity of the team towards cross-functional collaboration and self-organisation
  • Identify required skills and competencies in your team
  • Support your line manager with capacity planning according to presented expectations from the product owner
  • Facilitate daily scrum meetings and other key ceremonies
  • Motivate the team with the goal of increasing productivity and fun
  • Coach your team on our delivery processes to maximize the flow of value
  • Help the team remove roadblocks in their daily development work
  • Manage risks that cannot be eliminated through simple coordination
  • Ensure transparency by compiling and publishing metrics about the flow of value in our dashboards
  • Liaise with your product owner to track progress on feature development, sprint burndown and velocity
  • Share best practices with other Scrum Masters and improve operational level processes for all product teams

  • At least three years of work experience in an agile software engineering team
  • Understanding of team dynamics and change management
  • Practical knowledge of agile methods to facilitate scrum ceremonies
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a large company that is still in its early phase of agile is desired
  • Knowledge and understanding of test-driven application development
  • Knowledge and understanding of mobile & web applications and release management
  • Knowledge and understanding of software engineering and data science workflows is a plus
  • Understanding of the importance of test-automation towards continuous deployment and delivery
  • Strong social networking and network-building skills
