Senior Product Owner for Infrastructure Hosting

What you will do

The Senior Product Owner – Infrastructure Hosting leads Heidelberg Materials’ long-term global infrastructure hosting strategy, covering compute (Dell & Cisco), storage (predominantly NetApp), virtualisation and hypervisor platforms (VMware Cloud Foundation), and on-premises data center and colocation platforms. 

This customer-centric, business-aware role combines strong product ownership and communication skills with deep infrastructure expertise, working closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders across IT, OT, and the business. 

The focus is on building reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-transparent infrastructure, aligned with Security & Resilience principles and the wider IT & OT strategy, while driving standardisation, automation, and operational excellence to support business operations and digital transformation. 

Key Deliverables include: 

• Set and develop the Infrastructure Hosting strategy in line with business, security, and operations. 
• Work with architecture, engineering, and security teams to ensure secure and resilient platforms. 
• Build infrastructure with automation and self-service as standard. 
• Ensure reliability, performance, capacity, and continuity across IT & OT. 
• Drive standardisation across compute, storage, virtualisation, and on-prem infrastructure. 
• Coordinate between internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver reliable infrastructure services.

Customer Focus

• Own the end-to-end customer experience for infrastructure hosting products portfolio
• Maintain constant dialogue & represent the customer voice within the product team
• Align customer functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into platform features and capabilities.
• Translate customer demands and priorities into feature epics and platform capabilities
• Act as escalation contact for product and service quality related to hosting, compute, storage, virtualisation, and data center services

Product Management

• Define product vision, strategy, roadmap, and SLAs (availability, performance, capacity, support).
• Maintain transparent product catalogues, roadmaps, and cost/recharge models.
• Lead global infrastructure communities and align roadmaps across platform teams.
• Track vendor roadmaps and market trends for Dell & Cisco compute, NetApp storage, VMware Cloud Foundation Suite (vSphere, vCenter, NSX-T, vSAN, VCF Automation and Operations), and on-prem data center and colocation.
• Build and present infrastructure business cases to senior IT leadership.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure infrastructure hosting products compliance with Security & Resilience frameworks, company policies, and regulations.
• Engage with other Digital and OT departments to align product vision, strategy, roadmap, and objectives
• Align with Digital, OT, Finance, and Governance on strategy, budgeting, and asset management.
• Represent the business in major infrastructure and data center incident management.

We are seeking candidates with the following competencies:

• Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Product Owner or in a similar role such as Project Manager, Team Manager, Infrastructure Architect, or Consultant 
• Strong hands-on or leadership-level knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including:
  Server and compute platforms (Dell and Cisco)
  Storage platforms, predominantly NetApp
  Virtualisation and hypervisor platforms, primarily VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vRealize, vSAN)
  On-premises data center and colocation facilities, including rack/cage space, power, cooling, and capacity consumption 
• Experience designing, managing, or evolving on-premises and hybrid hosting platforms 
• Solid understanding of availability, performance, scalability, capacity planning, and lifecycle management 
• Familiarity with infrastructure security, hardening, segmentation, and resilience principles 
• Experience working with strategic vendors and managing technology roadmaps and standardisation initiatives 
• Experience in Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum 
• Ability to create and prioritise product backlogs, roadmaps, and customer demands 
• Leadership and communication skills for guiding teams and engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills 
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities 
• A forward-thinking mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and emerging infrastructure technologies 
• Willingness to travel internationally as required by the role
